2016: Ode to Miss Chief Eagle Testickle

EXHIBITED AT/AS PART OF:
2016 All That You Touch Group Exhibition curated by Brad Isaacs at Ottawa Art Gallery, Ottawa, Ontario
MATERIALS:
Yellow/Silver Birch Bark, Black Ash Ribbon, Acid Free Watercolour Paper, PH Neutral Adhesive
STATEMENT:
Since the late 17th century, the voracious appetite for the Indigenous made object has influenced “traditions” art makers would develop into skills.

Mastering these skills created a material culture that based ‘value’ over ‘values’. This commodification of Indigenous made objects created a divide between the customary practices of these makers.
